Let’s Get Positive!

Let’s get positive!

Yes, recently I was watching a video on positivity.

We’re not talking about Polly Anna type but just having a more positive outlook on life.

So, what can you do to help make life a bit more positive and not just for you, but for those around you?

Did you hear the really cool reports lately of high schoolers leaving positive notes or Valentine’s cards on lockers? I also heard of boy that bought all the girls in his school flowers for Valentine’s day.

  1. What are you listening to?

Are the words uplifting or are they negative?

Do you listen to country music? rap? rock & roll? What are the lyrics?

I personally listen to Spotify, a lot. You can personalize exactly what you are listening to.

2.

What are you reading?

Are you reading something positive? I am talking about first thing in the morning. Are you reading the news? Facebook?

Did you know that YOU can control what you see on Facebook?

Yes, I will do a Facebook live on this at a later date, give me #goals and I’ll get you today’s show notes and let you know when I go live next.

What books are you reading first thing in the morning? Maybe you need to change up what you read in the morning and save the negative, in your face or hard thinking stuff for later in the day.

3.

What are you watching?

Are you watching tv or videos first thing in the morning? What are you watching? Are you watching the news? That can really be depressing and negative, even the local stuff.

Are you watching movies? videos? Are the uplifting or positive?

I am huge fan of NCIS and Criminal Minds, but I certainly don’t want to watch that first thing in the morning. For morning time I like something more positive, such as Hallmark movies or PureFlix. For those that don’t know, PureFlix is a Christian version of Netflix.

For those that love Hallmark movies, you have a couple of options – the Hallmark Channel Everywhere has movies on it and all you need is a cable subscription that has it available. The second option is Hallmark Movies Now app, which is Hallmark’s answer to Netflix.

I use these for alternatives to Netflix so that I can get some positivity in.

4.

Yes, smile!

If you have followed the first 3, you should have a pretty positive outlook on the day. So, share it with someone else and smile at those that you come in contact with.

When you smile at someone, they will smile back, hopefully.

Part of my job at the gym is to greet people as they come in and the first thing I do with everyone is to smile at them and then I say Good morning. My shift is the early morning shift of 6 am to 10 am. Even early in the morning, when you smile at people, most of them will smile back at you.

While you’re at it, given someone a compliment. Make sure both of these are genuine, people will know if you are being fake.

5. Write down the positive from the day.

You’ve made it through the day and it’s been a pretty positive day now. Write down what was positive, what went right. Keep a journal. Then you can always read it the next morning to keep the positivity going.

  1. I enjoy my life! I read development material everyday and look for ways to help others. So many friends just need a little helping hand once in a while. I love the outdoors and playing ball with the dogs every morning. Walking with friends is my favorite pass time. Sure wish I was in Michigan to go walking with your group!
